Your resting heart rate is the envy of
the gym, and you could grate cheese on your abs. But what about
the rest of you? The part you can't see. How's your thyroid,
your blood glucose, your cholesterol? No matter how healthy
you are on the outside, it's the inside of you that requires
just as much or more attention and analysis.
The Fitness Architect provides its clients with the choice of
a number of blood screening tests which all require a simple,
pain-free finger stick. The tests we use are convenient, affordable,
clinically accurate and fast, usually taking no more than ten
minutes for results which arrive in the form of a risk assessment.
The Fitness Architect administers the following blood screenings:
1. Lipid Profile plus Glucose (Total Cholesterol, HDL,
LDL, Triglycerides, and Glucose): provides individual test results,
calculates the TC/HDL ratio and client risk for Cardiac Heart
Disease by using the Framingham Study. Increase control and
management of two of the most prevalent chronic diseases in
the world today- heart disease and diabetes.
Results in 5 minutes
2. ALT (GPT): an important liver enzyme test used to
assess liver damage in patients on cholesterol-lowering and
diabetic drugs or other selected prescription therapies. Guidelines
suggest routine monitoring of patients on Statins, Glitazones,
NSAIDs, and many other drugs. ALT testing is important prior
to treatment to establish a baseline level and is repeated two
to twelve times per year based on the medications currently
prescribed to each patient.
Results in 5 minutes
3. HbA1c: the hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) test measures the
average amount of sugar (glucose) that has been in a persons
blood over the last 2 to 3 months. The hemoglobin A1c test is
the best test to determine if a persons blood sugar is
under control. A1c is now the standard of care for evaluating
the control of diabetes. A1c readings provide valuable information,
necessary for determining the effectiveness of the therapeutic
plan and for facilitating timely change in the therapeutic regimen.
This test is ideal for anyone (diabetics or non-diabetics) concerned
about his or her blood sugar levels.
Results in 8 minutes
4. PSA4: an aid in prostate cancer detection. Early detection
is the most important advantage a male can have against prostate
cancer. PSA testing can help physicians detect prostate cancer
in its earliest, most treatable stage. The Fitness Architect
will collect the blood spot for the client, and the sample will
be mailed to BIOSAFEs laboratory for inspection.
Results returned to the client via mail within days.
5. TSH: measures a substance called Thyroid Stimulating
Hormone (TSH). This test will help identify and/or monitor an
underactive or overactive thyroid condition. Although women
are at a greater risk for thyroid disease, all of The Fitness
Architects clients are encouraged to take a TSH test to
help ensure that his or her thyroid gland is healthy. The thyroid
gland is the master gland for metabolism and abnormal functioning
of the thyroid could hinder the clients chances of weight
loss. The Fitness Architect will collect the blood spot for
the client and the sample will be mailed to BIOSAFEs laboratory
for careful analysis.
Results returned to the client via mail within days.
Note: These tests are not meant to take the place of
a client's medical practitioner, but they will provide valuable,
lifesaving information that can, and should, be shared with
your physician. |

"A few months after
I joined 24-Hour Fitness, I decided to give training
one more try. The manager suggested I try Chad
Hanley for his rehab experience. Chad spent an
entire session testing my mobility and determining
which exercises were likely to aggravate my shoulder.
He then developed a routine to build the muscles
surrounding the weak joint, while not stressing
the joint itself. He concentrated especially on
showing proper form for every exercise to prevent
any bad habits from developing. Within a month,
I was able to noticeably increase the weight without
experiencing any of the pain which had accompanied
my previous attempts at weight training."
